Laboratories - Presentation
Laboratories
The LCCP group works in different laboratories for an overall size of more than 2000 m2.
Equipments for catalyst preparation, drying and activation
» preparation of catalyst powders: filtering equipment; pH-meters, mixers, precision balances
» preparation of coated structured catalysts: ball-millers, equipment for dip-coating, blowing and spraying, ultracentrifugation unit, ultrasound bath
» preparation of bulk structured materials: mixer, kneader, screw-extruder, climatic chamber
» catalysts activation: drying muffles, calcinations ovens (7 units, for low, intermediate and high temperature, also for vacuum operations), reactors with controlled atmosphere
Equipments for catalyst characterisation:
» physico-chemical: Laser granulometer
» morphological: BET N2 adsorption-desorption, Hg intrusion
» spectroscopical: FT-IR, Raman, UV-Vis
» surface: TPD/R/O, TPSR, chemisorption
Equipments for catalyst testing (powder and structured catalysts, steady-state and transient conditions, also operated under pressure)
21 experimental rigs are dedicated to catalyst testing, accounting up to 14 gas chromatographs, 5 mass spectrometers, 12 specific gas analyzers, 2 potentiostat/galvanostat units and 1 solar simulator
Computational facilities (pc and software for modelling and simulation)
The Laboratory of Computational Catalysis has ample access to computational time at national and international supercomputing centers, 1 in-house cluster for development, dedicated softwares for electronic structure calculations, CFD, and reactor analysis and design.
